Terms of Service
Updated October 11, 2026
Last updated October 11, 2026.
These terms govern your use of Latter Years. They apply to families researching care, to facilities using our portal, and to home health agencies using our retention tools. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them.
Not medical or legal advice
Our quizzes, guides and matching results are for education and information. They are not medical advice or a diagnosis, and they don't replace a conversation with your doctor or an elder-law attorney. The VA benefits quiz doesn't replace advice from an accredited Veterans Service Officer. Latter Years does not prepare, present or file VA benefit claims.
Facility information
Facility information comes from public state licensing and inspection records, from a facility's own profile, and, for a facility that hasn't claimed its listing, from facts we extract from its public website. We label anything the facility hasn't confirmed as unconfirmed, with a link to its source. Confirm any detail that matters to your decision with the facility before you act on it.
How matching works
We match and rank facilities on your stated care needs and preferences, compared with each facility's stated capabilities and location. A facility's subscription tier, ad spend and claimed status play no part. A facility cannot pay to rank higher, and an unclaimed facility ranks no lower.
Your account
Keep your account credentials secure and the information you give us accurate. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. Our privacy policy lists what deletion removes and what it keeps.
Updates to a care team that referred you
If you came to Latter Years through a link from a hospital, clinic or other care team, you decide when you keep that link whether the care team hears how your search goes, and it learns nothing unless the admin of your family account agrees. When they do, we share only that an account was made and, if you choose a community that care team recommended, which one and when you moved in; if you choose somewhere else, only that you settled on a community. The admin can withdraw that agreement for any care team at any time under Account, and we stop sharing from then on. A care team never pays us for a referral, and no community pays to be recommended by one.
Messaging
If you connect with a facility through Latter Years, it may text and email you about your inquiry, for example tour reminders or updates on availability. A facility needs your consent before it can message you. You can revoke that consent at any time from your account or by replying STOP to a text.
If you contacted a community directly, it may add you to Latter Years so it can follow up. We may then email you on its behalf, at most once a week, with a link to agree to texts and a link to unsubscribe. A community you have spoken with may also ask us to send you one text asking whether you want texts. Apart from that question, we text you only after you agree yourself: on the community's consent page, through the link in an email from us, or by replying YES to that question. Reply STOP to any text from a Latter Years number to stop our texts.
Latter Years texts. Texts are about your own search for senior care: tour confirmations and reminders, messages from communities and agencies you connect with, and links to your Latter Years account. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, or email support@latteryears.com. Reply STOP to cancel at any time, and START to turn texts back on. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. See our privacy policy for how we handle your information.
Facility and agency use
Facilities and agencies may use our portal tools only for their own legitimate outreach to families and patients who have agreed to be contacted. They may not work around our consent, quiet-hours or opt-out controls.
Families you add yourself
If you add a family to Latter Years yourself, by hand, from a file, through our API, a connected system or a forwarded email, you agree to the following:
- You have a lawful basis to share the family's contact details with us, and you tell us truthfully where each family came from. For a referral source, you attest to the terms under which that source collected the family's details.
- Consent to texts from Latter Years comes only through our consent tools: your consent page or QR code, the link in the email we send on your behalf, or a confirmation text you request for a family you have spoken with. A family's consent to a referral site, to you or to anyone else does not transfer to Latter Years. You will not tell us a family agreed when they did not.
- Before you request a confirmation text, you confirm that the family gave you that number and agreed to be contacted by text about their search. The confirmation is yours, and we record who gave it.
- You will not add anyone who has asked not to be contacted. If a family opts out with you outside Latter Years, you will close the lead or tell us.
We send a text only when the family's own recorded consent allows it. The one exception is the confirmation question itself, which your attestation allows.
Limitation of liability
Latter Years is a tool. Families use it to research and organize a search for care, and providers use it to stay in touch with the people they serve. We are not a party to any care, admission or placement decision, and we are not liable for the quality of care from any facility or agency listed on, or communicating through, Latter Years.
Changes to these terms
