Register Your Own Texting Number for a Building

Updated October 25, 2026

Families are texted through the Latter Years number unless a building has a dedicated number of its own. To get one, an admin opens Settings, then Text messaging, fills in the carrier registration form and taps "Submit for registration". The page then follows each review until the number is live.

Fill in the registration

The form asks for what US mobile carriers require: your legal business name exactly as it appears on your IRS paperwork, your EIN, the kind of business, your website and business address, an authorized contact who can sign for the business, and your expected monthly text volume. Twilio may contact that person to confirm.

Tick the opt-in statement to confirm how the families you text from this number asked you about care. Every first text names your building, and STOP always works. The form will not submit without it.

A registration covers one building. If you run several, switch locations first, then register each one.

Follow the status

The Registration status badge moves through each review: your business profile, your messaging profile, the brand and then the campaign. Each review takes days rather than minutes, the campaign review is the longest, and you have nothing to do between them. Once the carriers approve and the number is attached, the badge reads Live and the page shows your texting number.

Not approved?

The badge reads "Not approved" with the reason underneath. Correct what it names in the form and submit again. If you fix the form after a failed save, type the EIN again, since it is never shown back.

Does it cost anything?

No. The carrier registration and the number are included in your plan, and Latter Years pays the fees.

Hours and your own leads

Below the registration, the Hours card holds when your admissions office answers and when tours run, plus holidays and other closures. Reply times given to families and business-hours reminders are worked out from these. They do not change when families can be texted: automated texts keep to the same daytime window either way.

"Automations and my leads" is your own setting for the leads assigned to you. It can make an automation more careful, by drafting for your review or leaving you a task instead of sending, but never less careful than your team set it.

Only an admin can submit the registration or change the hours. Text messaging comes with a paid plan.
